I painted mine with a base coat of Brook from Fusion Mineral Paint. Let dry completely before moving on.    Grab your floral transfer and cut enough to cover sections of your board based on the amount you wish to cover. Be sure you leave enough space for your Stencil to stand out on your board. Apply your transfer with your flat edge transfer sheet tool but pressing firmly. Pay attention to the curves of your round board when placing the transfer, so you don’t leave a gap of space.  Be sure your transfer sheet is securely adhered to your board before you begin removing the backing. Slowly peel back plastic backing.  Grab your “I Love Our Life”  stencil,  With your finger dauber begin dabbing in some Bayberry in the lettering of your stencil. Dab carefully. Highlight your lettering a bit to help it pop out from your bed of florals.  Let dry a bit with your heat gun.  Use Dark Titanium White to highlight. Carefully place your stencil back over your letters shifted just a bit off to add the white pop of color.  Once dry, add some edging to your sign’s edges with your finger daubers. Lightly rub, just adding a little detail to your sign.  You can add a sealer to this if you want, but I did not.  What if you tear your transfer when pulling it up? I have done this time and time again. And let me ease your worries and concerns. This is not the end of the world, folks. In fact for this little project, I did this exact thing but you can’t even tell, can you? If this happens, simply find another little spot on your transfer sheet and add another little floral on top to hide your “so-called mistake.” Then move on with life. No need to stress friends. Tequila Lime and Sunshine Sign

Follow along step by step as I show you how to make the perfect tequila lime and sunshine sign to help you escape to the beach just by looking at it. We all need a little beach in our lives every once in a while, right?  Y’all. I am not a beach girl. All that sand and skin is just too much for me. But I am a beach decor kind of girl. Seashells, sunshine, and a squeeze of lime… could there be anything cuter? Well, this DIY Tequila Lime and Sunshine sign is pretty dang cute all by itself. I love how adorable this sign turned out. It is a perfect addition to my home in the summer months when I want to feel like I am getting away to the beach. The bonus is I don’t have to deal with all the sand and skin! Thank goodness. DIY Tequila Lime and Sunshine Signs  A lot of my family and friends can’t get enough of the sun and sand. They just love the beach and all it has to offer. And I love them, so making this cute sign was still fun. Although I am not a beach kind of girl, I am an all things cute kind of girl, when it comes to crafting. A simple sign, stencil, and your favorite colors of paint make this sign the perfect addition to your summer decor. This looks great in any beach house, or even your home/office when you are trying to pretend to be on a tropical island with an ocean breeze in your hair. I can’t get over the summer vibes coming from this cute DIY Tequila Lime & Sunshine sign. Picking the perfect set of paint colors to accent each other is so much fun. This stencil is so easy to put your own spin on the craft. Versatile and in style, for sure. If you are feeling extra creative, mix and match colors throughout the words of the stencil. That is why I love crafting so much. Every piece I make is so different from the one before because it can be. And no matter what, it is always cute! If for some odd reason I don’t like it, I can paint over it and start again! But that rarely happens. Just follow the steps below and have some fun! One question though. Does this sign make you want to get a cold drink, soak up some sunshine, or a little bit of both? Supplies Wooden blocks – scrap lumber of all different sizes Chalk Type paint – Mermaid Tail by Dixie Belle Tequila, Lime, & Sunshine – The Stencilsmith Dark Brown, Chrome Oxide Green, White – * Master’s Touch acrylic paint for stencils Paintbrush Paint daubers Heat Gun/dryer Sanding block Spray Polyurethane Sealer in Satin Steps: Grab your desired size piece of wood that will fit your stencil. Determine your base coat of color. I am using Mermaid by Dixie Bell.  Cover completely. Don’t forget to do the sides. It doesn’t have to be a thick coat because we can distress the boards. Set aside. Dry completely with a heat gun/dryer to speed up the process.  Touch up any spots that you may have missed. Place your Tequila, Lime, & Sunshine Stencil, thanks to The Stencil Smith, on your board. With your green and white acrylic paint mixed a bit, begin dabbing out the lime on your stencil. Use finger daubers to stencil. Makeup sponges work too. I just like finger daubers best. Hold stencil in place as you work.  On the words of your stencil, you decide your accent paint color. I grabbed a dark brown and mixed it with the green/white just to be creative. Make sure your color is still pretty dark so it stands out on that paint of your wooden sign.  But you can decide your colors. You can’t go wrong with white or blacks.  Once dry, let’s add a white wash look. Using Deco Art White Wash, lightly brush over your sign all in the same direction. This will give it a beachy vibe we all want in our lives. When finished with paint, set aside to dry. Or, use a heat gun or hair dryer to speed up the drying process.  Distress signs on the side if you like that look.  Once completely dry, apply a thin layer of Spray Polyurethane. Do this in a well ventilated area. I really like the DIxie Bell product. Let it dry.  Last but not least, enjoy your simple Tequila, Lime, and Sunshine, while  dreaming of the beach.  What paint colors should I use when crafting a beach sign? You can be as creative as you want. Beach decor is mostly in shades of blue, green, and whites. This sign would look great with a white base coat, a bright pop of green for the lime, and a dark navy blue for the words. It really would look great any way you choose. This floral home sign using transfers and stencils is going to be the perfect addition to your living room wall! Follow along step by step as I show you how to make your own using just a piece of wood, stencils, some paint, and a floral transfer! When you are crafting one project, are you thinking in your head of all the other projects you could be doing next? Are you picturing where you can decorate with that future project, even before you have even finished it? You may even be thinking this will make the perfect gift! That my friends are my thought every sing day. Everyday! Crafting one project just leads to inspiration for the next. These floral transfers were all the inspiration I needed for my DIY Floral Home Sign… and I got it while finishing up another project. I know I can’t be the only one who is always thinking ahead when it comes to crafting. DIY Floral Home Sign Using Transfers and Stencils Painting pieces of wood of all shapes and sizes makes me happy. Painting pieces of wood that are shaped like a house makes me even happier. Slapping a stencil on that wood with a pretty floral transfer… well, that is what you call being on CLOUD 9. Y’all. I am on Cloud 9 for sure with this craft. Using leftover pieces of a Prima Floral Transfer to make it even more special, has my heart going pitter-patter. This DIY craft using transfers is simple. It goes to show that nothing ever should go to waste. Save those old pieces of wood, no matter the shape or size. You guys it is possible to craft with the unused parts of transfers and scrapbook paper. The possibilities are endless. You can truly turn those scraps into something AMAZING!! Mix and match those paint colors to accent your home or office. This craft is just so versatile based on whatever you choose to use. Just follow the steps below and have some fun! Few questions though. Are you keeping this for yourself? Are you making one for your neighbor? What about your niece who just got married? Doesn’t she need one in her home? Supplies: Wooden sign – Preferably the shape of a home  Algonquin Fusion Mineral Paint  Masters Touch Acrylic paint   Sunflower Farms by Prima ReDesign Prima Transfer Tool HOME Stencil from the Stencilsmith Paintbrush Paint daubers Heat Gun/dryer Sanding block Spray Polyurethane  Steps: Grab your home-shaped piece of wood. Paint your wood sign covering it with a base coat, preferably chalk based paint –  color of your choosing. Don’t forget to do the sides. It doesn’t have to be a thick coat because we will distress the boards. Dry completely with a heat gun/dryer to speed up the process.  Touch up any spots that you may have missed. With your leftover piece of floral transfer, or new piece. Whatever… just get a cute floral transfer. Determine the pieces you want to use on your board by moving them around before committing. Remember to keep the backing on your transfers until you are ready to apply them to your project.  Lay your transfer down on your wood up on the rooftop. Press it down firmly using your plastic tool that came in your transfer kit. If you ever have a bubble, just carefully pull it up and try again.  With your sanding block, lightly rub the edges to remove any excess off sides of the wood sign.  Apply transfers, remembering to leave enough space for your stencil so it rests only on the wood.  Grab your HOME stencil and your finger daubers. With dark brown acrylic paint, begin to lightly tap your small amount of paint. Pushing lightly and using small amounts of paint is this trick to not having your stencils bleed through on the board.  When finished with paint, set aside to dry. Or, use a heat gun or hair dryer to speed up the drying process. If you feel your sign needs a little more, feel free to add some twine, jute, string, or even ribbon of your liking, and unravel a bit so you have some to wrap easily. Apply a thin line of hot glue to start your wrapping, to help it stay in place. Wrap around several times to make it thick. Cut and hot glue the end to secure. I personally am using mine as is! Last but not least, enjoy your simple DIY Floral Home Sign, anywhere you decide to put it.  Where do I find Floral Transfers? There are several places you can purchase floral transfers from. I can find some great floral transfers on Amazon but shop Prima. Prima has a great selection and I love their Floral Transfers so much. They are cute and so easy to work with. I know you will love them Wasn’t this so simple and so much fun? I think it was cute, simple, and a great way to use up those scrap pieces. Make Your Own DIY Farmhouse Decor

Y’all I am loving this DIY Farmhouse decor sign. It is one of my favorite wooden signs I’ve done recently! It hangs in my kitchen now like it was made for it! Having this blessed wooden sign with a wreath on my walls just squeals farmhouse decor to me. That is why I love it so much. Since our house is an old farmhouse dated back to 1902. I think it fits perfectly. With just a scrap piece of wood, a stencil, and a wreath I was able to create this fabulous look. If you are wanting this same look grab your supplies below and let’s get started. To see exactly how I did this in thirty minutes or less check out the tutorial below. Make your own Blessed Wooden Sign The best thing about stencils and I have said this more than once is you get to make your own wall decor exactly how you want it! You get to pick your wood base color, your text color, and your embellishments. Making this wooden blessed sign with my own supplies instead of buying one helped me get exactly what I was wanting to hang in my kitchen. You too can make your own decorations to match your style by following these simple steps below. Supplies: Blessed Stencil Dixie Belle ‘Caviar’ Paint – Paint Daubers Striped Ribbon Minwax Polyurethane Spray Wooden Board Hot Glue Gun Heat gun How to Make a Wooden Blessed Sign Using a piece of board painted black or anything you have around your home that you know would work. Lay your stencil down close to the bottom edge so you can leave room for your wreath you will add later. Start applying your paint using your finger daubers and gently working from top to bottom applying paint over your stencil. I used an off white color. Once you are done filling in the stencil pull it up and spray with a miniwax polyurethane spray. Allow time for your paint dry before moving on to the next steps. You could also speed up the process by using a heat gun. Now time to attach your wreath above your stenciled letters. To attach the green wreath use ribbon and start by tieing ribbon to the top of wreath in a knot. Pull wreath up until hanging just above the word Blessed. You will dropping the ribbon over the top. Pull until you have it in the right place. Staple the excess ribbon to back of wooden sign to hold it in place. Make a little bow and hot glue to top right of wreath. How Do You Stencil Without Smearing? There are a few tips and tricks I use to help keep from smearing when using a stencil and they are: Do not put too much paint on your dauber Use painters tape to secure your stencil, that way it doens’t move on you Let the paint dry as you work Do not brush from side to side work from up and down. This means daub from top to bottom not left to right! Do you let the paint dry before removing the stencil from the board? No, you do not have to let the paint completely dry before removing the stencil from the wooden board. However, I do suggest you work slowly as you add paint to each letter and that will help allow the paint to dry some before you have to remove your stencil. Quick and Easy DIY Christmas Sign

Love a simple DIY Christmas sign that’s great for your home? Check out how easy and fun it is to make! I made mine in less than 30 minutes with a few materials from the craft store. This year I wanted to go away from the traditional bright red and green in my home, but still manage to have that Christmas feel when the time comes. The shape of a Christmas tree helps me keep it in the Christmas decor genre, but the use of neutral colors gives it a new spin. This craft will show you a new way to think outside of the box. Are you ready to get wild, with a little bit of cheetah print, trying something new with me? Let’s go! Make Your Own Neutral Christmas Sign “O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,” how lovely are your neutral colors! The remix to this classic song is perfect for a remix to a classic little project. Mixing our tree up with neutral colors could not have turned out any better. I just love how it all came together. This fun craft will definitely be a statement piece up on the ledge of my mantle, which is perfect because I love setting wood decor up there to help decorate for each season! Using an old Christmas tree shape made from pallet wood, neutral colored tissue paper, fancy napkins, and scrapbook pages, and a few other crafting supplies, you can make this Neutral Christmas Tree home Decor Sign. The beauty of this project is you get to decide the colors for your papers applied, so it will work even if you choose to not to do a neutral theme. Be creative and have fun! I can’t wait to see what y’all create. Just follow the steps below and let’s have some fun! One question though, do you love the cheetah print as much as me? I think it makes the whole project pop! Supplies needed for your Neutral Christmas Sign: Pallet wood Christmas Tree  Soft Matte Gel or Mod Podge Saran Wrap, Wax Paper, Aluminum Foil Foam Paint Brush Heat Gun/dryer Scrapbook paper: brown, tans, creams, music notes, plaid, gingham, leopard print, etc. Tissue paper and fancy 2-ply napkin Paper cutter  Squeegee/Flat edge tool Sanding block Fast Drying Acrylic Spray Seal Instructions to make a Neutral Christmas Sign I created this Christmas tree with old pallet wood years ago. Measured, cut to the sizes I needed. Placed a long piece on the back to keep it all together, also serving as the trunk to my Christmas tree.  Select your neutral sheets of scrapbook paper, 2-ply napkins, and 1 sheet of coordinating tissue paper to cover your tree. Remember I am going for a neutral feel, but you can do whatever you prefer. Same technique will work for all styles.  Beginning with the bottom layer of my tree, I am using a sheet of tissue paper. I wanted to have a solid piece for this layer and scrapbook paper was not quite long enough.  Apply a thin layer Soft Matte Gel, or Mod Podge, and carefully add your tissue paper of choice. It is very delicate to work with. With saran wrap, wax paper, or even foil, lightly smooth out your tissue paper, helping it adhere to the gel and work out any wrinkles or air bubbles.  Trim excess paper with a razor blade, being extra careful not to rip.    For my next layer, I am using a fancy 2 ply-napkin. You know me, I love a good cheetah print. Remove the back layer of your napkin, and cut a section to cover that latter of your tree. Leave some excess on there.  Apply the same way, working very carefully, as it is also very fragile as the tissue paper.  Use a small hand sanding block to help rub off excess from sides.  Decide on which style of scrapbook paper you want to have as your next layer of tree. Use your paper cutter to trim the amount you need. I always have the hardest time with this part, but this is where you make the project your own.   Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge on your tree, and then apply your cut scrapbook sheet. Pay attention to placement. Use a squeegee or flat edge tool, pressing down to push or any excess Mod Podge under the paper.  Wipe the excess from your squeegee and on your tree with a paper towel. Repeat for the remaining layers of your tree.  Use a sanding block to remove any excess overhang of your scrapbook pages on your tree. You can also rough up the edges of your tree layers with the sanding block, to add a rustic feel if you desire.  Rub excess debris so your surface is clean. Once you are happy with the look of your tree, seal it with a layer of Mod Podge.  I hope you have enjoyed this DIY Christmas sign project. It is a simple and cheap way to dress up your home décor for the holidays. One of my favorite things about DIY projects are all the possibilities. You can always change things around if you don’t like it! This was an amazing DIY Christmas sign that’s great for your home. Have you made a DIY project like this before? I’d love to see your version of this DIY Christmas sign! If you use the same supplies as me, feel free to share on my Facebook page. Easy DIY Winter Sign

Are you ready to start decorating for the winter months? Today I am showing you how to make your own DIY winter sign in less than 20 minutes. It’s an easy and simple project that you can make as gifts to friends, loved ones, or just add it to your shop! I love the distressed look and the paint colors this sign brings to my holiday decor. This year, I was wondering what would be a cute sign that I could have up in my home through all the winter holiday months. After some brainstorming, I decided to paint a wood sign with the word SNOW on it. It is the perfect way to have cute decor that can stay up all winter long and not be to a specific holiday. It reminds me of the AMERICA wood sign I made for my entryway for the 4th of July this year! Using a piece of wood, stencils, paint, and a sander you too can make your own DIY winter sign by following along with me in this tutorial video. This DIY wood sign makes for the perfect “Christmas in July” project! Easy DIY Winter Sign To start this easy DIY wood sign craft you first need to think about where you would like to display this sign. Once you know where it will likely go this will help you determine the size of your wood blank you need to cut or which one to grab from your pile of scarps. Also, my individual stencil letters are rather large depending on the size of yours will also help determine the size your board will need to be. Keep watching and you will see how my little accident turned into a masterpiece if I do say so myself! Winter Sign Supplies Wood blank Paintbrush Black Paint Daubers Clear coat Hand sander White Paint Turquoise Paint Make Your Own Winter Snow Sign with these Instructions Step 1: To start you will want to find the right size board for your project. Once you have decided on your size you will want to give it a good sanding with your hand sander if your board is rough. Step 2: Once you prepped your board start by giving it a base color. I choose back for mine. Using a paintbrush cover your board with the paint of your choice. Step 3: After that base paint is dry you can start stenciling on your letters. If you want to speed up the drying process us a heat gun. Step 4: I was going to paint my letters white but accidentally mixed the white into some paint I already had on my plate but it turned out fabulous. If you would like the same look I did you will just need to mix white and turquoise paint together. I used my pouncer to fill in the letters of each stencil. I started at the top with the letter “S”. Step 5: Next, continue adding your letters vertically on your sign. The next letter will be “N”. Step 6: Now add the letter “O” by stenciling it on. You may have to mix more white and turquoise together and it is ok if it is not exactly the same.  Step 7: Finishing your sign off with your last letter “W” daubing the paint inside your stencil filling in your letter “W” stencil.  Step 8: To add so fun features to your sign you can take a tiny paintbrush and make little small white snowflakes all around the letters that spelled out “SNOW”. Step 9: Allow time for your letters to dry before continuing on to the next steps. Step 10: Take a hand sander and go around the edges and distress the sides of your sign. You can even go over the letters a bit to distress them but be very careful.  Step 11: Once it is all dry paint a clear coat over your sign. I prefer to use the Dixie Belle Paint brand for my clear coat. This DIY winter sign is so easy that you can make multiples to gift to friends as gifts or make to give to a secret Santa at work. You will love how it looks and even better they are such a joy to make! Just pin this Easy DIY Winter Sign tutorial below to find the instructions later!

DIY Drink Local Wood Sign

I love gifting gifts to friends when we go over for an afternoon of fun and mingling. I have a few friends that have tiki bars and outside pool areas that I thought making them a DIY drink local wood sign would be a perfect gift to give them that is fun for the next time we are invited over. With just a simple wood blank, some paint, and individual stencil letters this sign is so simple to make yourself but also looks amazing when done! What I love most about DIY wood signs is that you can customize any sign to fit the outside area you are hoping to place it. Just think about your friends and whom you wish to gift it to and I am sure there are so many different possibilities when it comes to picking the paint colors for your sign. If they are huge football fans, you can make the sign the colors of their favorite football team. Also, it never hurts to stick to what I did and do black and white. That color combo really goes with anything honestly! DIY Drink Local Wood Sign Today I am showing you exactly how to make a DIY drink local wood sign to keep for yourself or gift to a friend. I am using the same technique I used to make my DIY Family sign. Using only a blank piece of wood, stencils, and sponge daubers, and paint I promise this is truly the best way to make your own DIY signs that I promise you will love for yourself or find that it is perfect for gifting to others. Supplies to make Drink Local Wood Sign: Paintbrush Wood blank Black Paint White Paint Heat Gun Sponge Daubers Letter Stencils Instructions for this DIY Drink Local Wood Sign Start by applying a black coat of paint onto your board. Make sure it is dried before moving to the next step. If you wish to speed up the process you can use your heat gun.  Using individual letter stencils lay them out to make sure you can fit them all on your sign. Grab your pouncer and using milky white paint start dabbing your paint into the inside of your stencil. I work the inside first and then go back and touch up any places I may have missed.  With a heat gun dry each letter as you can go. That way you do not smear your paint as you add more letters to make your words Once you finish painting DRINK you are going to work backwards with your second word. To make sure you get it lined up and the word fits!  You will do each letter in the word “LOCAL” just like you did when painting “DRINK”. Go back and touch up any spots of black that need to be touched up on your wood sign that you may have missed.  After you allow it to dry you will want to seal it with a clear coat How do you stencil on wood without bleeding? It is so important to know how to stencil on wood without bleeding from your paint. I highly suggest that you go really slow when stenciling onto the wood. You will also want to use sponge daubers when placing paint it really helps you see where your paint is going and where it has been. Less is more when stenciling. It is always easier to add more paint than take away! You will just love how beautiful this turns out and like I said this will be the perfect gift to give to your friends who have an outdoor tiki bar or pool area. It just adds a little fun décor piece and is simple, cute, and fun to make! Just pin this DIY Drink Local Wood Sign tutorial below to find the instructions later!
