Easy Easter Crafts

Ok, so I have kind of been on a roll lately. Today was day 12, in a row, of going live with either a craft or showing you what I got to do more crafts with. With all the craziness going on right now, I am just trying to be a bright spot—a positive distraction for the crafty people that are on lockdown. So with that being said, let’s hop on into some Easter crafting! HOW ABOUT THESE SWEET LITTLE BUNNIES Super easy. I purchased the wood cutouts from amazon. I painted the edges black and mod podged on the scrapbook paper. I then wrapped some raffia on. Done. Supplies: Wood Bunny Cutout – https://amzn.to/3acZpEd Wood Egg Cutout – https://amzn.to/33FBHhe Mod Podge Matte – https://flippinfurnitureshop.com/products/mod-modge-matte-notions Scrapbook Paper – Your Choice Raffia – https://amzn.to/3bfY3bC Dixie Belle Caviar 8 OZ – https://amzn.to/2Ua083k Hot Glue Gun – https://amzn.to/2UfajUq Cordless Hot Glue Gun – https://amzn.to/3aphYVT Squeeguee – https://flippinfurnitureshop.com/products/the-blue-tool-hp How about another easy one? EASTER BLOCKS I have had these little wood blocks for over five years now. They measure about 3 ¾” x 3 ¾”. I’m assuming they were cut from a 1×4. I painted the outside edges with pink paint, then cut the scrapbook papers to fit the blocks and mod podged them on. After that, I added some embellishments. A few flowers hot glued on here and there. And wrapped green raffia around the first and last blocks and secured that with hot glue also. Done. I did this in your typical, traditional Easter colors. Then I did it again in more of the neutral, farmhouse style for “spring”. The neutrals are for me 🙂 HAVE YOU HAD ENOUGH YET? HOW ABOUT A FEW MORE? CAN YOU HANDLE IT? Same wood blocks as used above. I painted all the blocks black and distressed them with my sanding sponge. Then I used my little stamps and stamped “Easter,” “Grow,” “Spring,” and “Grow.” For the Easter block, I wrapped green raffia around it and secured it with hot glue and then hot glued on the pink flower. For the “Grow” block, I wrapped regular raffia around the block, secured it with hot glue, and added the flower with hot glue also. For the “Spring” block, basically, the same as the “Grow” block. I just added a tiny sprig of greenery to it. And for the “Bloom” block, I used twine in place of the raffia. So simple but so cute! Perfect little fillers for those tiered trays! All I did was clean it up and painted the wood base black. Next, I added two little glass bottles that I had bought at an antique mall. I added some greenery to them, the bunny, and some Spanish moss. BAM! Supplies: Dixie Belle Caviar 8 OZ – https://amzn.to/2Ua083k Spanish Moss – https://amzn.to/2WD5WnJ LAST ONE, I PROMISE I bought the little peat pots from Amazon, and the eggs came from an antique store. The eggs were pink and plastic. To cover the eggs, I used an old sewing pattern. For me, I absolutely LOVE things with script and numbers on them. The pattern didn’t have quite enough going on for my liking, so I stamped some more designs on it. Next, I tore the sewing pattern into small pieces and mod podged on a few layers to the eggs. Once the eggs were completely dry, I hot glued Spanish moss into the peat pots and then hot glued the eggs onto the moss. And there you go! Most of these projects were done during Facebook lives if you want to “watch” me do them! I would love for you to try any of these projects or ALL and show me!!! P.S. I recently started a free group called “The Flippin Community.” I would love to have you join us there. It is just a smaller group where I share most of the same things that are on my “Flippin Furniture” page. Facebook wants us to have communities so they let you see more of the content in the group than they do on my business page. Don’t ask me why. I just try to keep them happy! Two Super Easy Easter Crafts!

No joke. I’m almost embarrassed to show you these! Almost. They can be customized to your color choices and home décor. I have recently started doing Facebook “lives” daily. I think I did day six today, and am going for at least 10. Maybe 30 days. Maybe not. We shall see! All of these were done mostly on those Facebook Lives. The carrot project was first. So super simple. THE EASTER CARROT I started with a scrap piece of wood and painted it brown. While the paint dried, I started looking through my orange scrapbook papers and found one I liked. Then I drew a rough outline of a carrot and cut it out. I didn’t want it perfectly cut, so I used my crappy old scissors. You know the kind that you have used to cut the wire too many times? Yeah, those scissors. That was the look I was going for! I used my black paint dabber to go around the edge of the carrot cutout. I glued down the carrot to the board using mod podge and added some faux greenery for the tops with hot glue. Then I wrapped some twine around the top and the bottom. I did put a little drop of hot glue under the knots to keep it secure. Done! Supplies I Used: Scrap Piece of Wood Orange Scrapbook Paper Black Dauber – https://amzn.to/2UbUdJH Faux Greenery Mod Podge Matte – https://flippinfurnitureshop.com/products/mod-modge-matte-notions Twine – https://flippinfurnitureshop.com/products/jute-cord-notions?_pos=1&_sid=65d8ac4b2&_ss=r Scissors Hot Glue Gun – https://amzn.to/390ovVv Easy, peasy, right!?! Let’s throw another one in here real quick! It uses a lot of the same supplies! I love how these bunnies turned out! My house is mainly neutrals, so I chose to do more of a “farmhouse” neutral theme. But feel free to go more Easter traditional if that is more you! ——————————————————————————————————————————————————– FARMHOUSE STYLE BUNNIES First, I painted around the edges of all the bunnies with black paint. Once the paint was dry, I laid my bunnies down on the scrapbook paper. I had black and white polka dot, black and white gingham, and tan and white polka dot. I traced around the shapes (bunnies) and cut them out. I always cut inside the line about an eighth of an inch so that when I lay it on my piece, it won’t be hanging over. And if you do find that yours hangs over, you can either cut it a little more or sand it off later. Once cut, mod podge your scrapbook papers onto your bunnies. Working from the middle out, you want to work out any air bubbles or excess mod podge from under the paper. This little gold credit card looking piece is perfect for just that! I have actually used a kitchen spatula in a pinch many times! At this point, I couldn’t decide if I was done or not yet. I sanded the edges just a little, all the way around. I ended up deciding to do some random stamping on them. Most of my stamps are about as old as my kids. We are talking 20 plus years old. So I tried to give you links to the ones I could find and others that were kind of close-ish. And I took a picture of the ones I used in case that helps. I used Staz On ink in opaque white. This is good stuff. Once, on a piece of furniture a long time ago, I stamped a bunch of different stamps on the top of a smallish side table. It looked amazing. They were painted white with French script stamps in black. I can still see it in my mind. But that is the only place. Because I had used regular stamp ink, it wiped off! When I touched it, it would smear! I was dumbfounded! Or maybe just dumb? Anyway, regular ink is fine for most craft projects, but I highly recommend the Staz On for this! It dries quickly! So, paper on and stamping done. Once I had the papers on, I waited maybe 10 minutes and put another coat of mod podge over the top. Then let dry completely. The last step was adding the raffia around the necks. I used a little dot of glue again to keep the raffia in place. And that’s it, that’s all Folks! Papier Mache Damask Box Revamp

Do you have an excellent internet service? Mine isn’t bad until I try to do a Facebook Live. We were told that it was fixed, so I went Live. Still blurry. The internet company sent us a new router. As soon as it arrived, I, of course, had to try to go Live ASAP! That is how this makeover came about! I just ran out to my garage, looked around real quick, grabbed a few things, put on some makeup and a bra and hopped on! Only to find out that it was still blurry. My hubby called the company, and the technician would be coming. Anyway, being forced to drum up something to go Live with in a hurry isn’t all bad. In fact, I really do like how this turned out! Let me say… This round box was from my ‘Twilight’ faze. I had a ‘Twilight’ themed bedroom. One or two walls were dark red walls, and you can only imagine. My house is now transitioning into neutral and muted colors, so this damask white and black round box wasn’t quite fitting in… Let’s Get Started! First, I used a brown glaze on the lid to take away the stark whiteness. I brushed on the glaze and wiped it back off with a paper towel and then put it aside to dry while I worked on the bottom. For the bottom piece, I tore a bunch of scrapbook papers in random sizes. I wanted to have enough papers to complete the project once I got started with it, and not have to stop and tear up more while I was trying to mod podge. I chose colors that go with my home décor. Black, tans, browns, creams, etc. I brushed on the mod podge, just a small section at a time, and pressed it down with my fingers to get out any air bubbles or excess mod podge. And I just kept adding pieces of paper and mod podging them down until it was covered all the way around. Next, I trimmed off any papers that were overhanging and also used a sanding sponge to smooth the edges. Then I had to decide whether or not I wanted to glaze over the whole bottom piece. I went for it. And I loved it! Same technique as the lid. Brushed on the glaze and wiped it off with a paper towel. And as soon as the glaze was dry, I covered it all with mod podge again. After I finished the Live, we decided to try my husband’s phone to make sure it wasn’t my phone that was causing the terrible video quality. So then I did another, very short Live, where I decided to paint the lid brown, lol. And that is how I left it. Now I have a new piece to add some elevation to my vignettes! Super easy! I’m wondering what I want to mod podge next!?! The possibilities are endless!!! DIY Valentine Craft,

I love how this turned out!  A scrap piece of wood, some scrapbook papers, some twine and an old key…and you have yourself a pretty cool Valentine’s Day Décor piece!  I was going to use a canvas, but then I decided to check my wood scraps first.  I found one that I liked the size of and went with it.  Next thing I did was go look at some of my scrapbook paper stash for inspiration.  I don’t have a lot of bold colors in my house anymore, so I chose to go with pink for the Valentine’s Day heart instead of the red. The pink paper actually had some script on it.  I love anything with writing, script, or numbers on it.  Then I chose the background papers.  I actually just looked through my scraps.  This was a good way to get rid of some of them. Once I had all my papers rounded up, I started ripping pieces of the paper so they would have jagged edges.  I started with a corner, covered it with mod podge, and then laid my piece of paper down, making sure to work out any excess mod podge or air.  I did this over the entire top of the board, overlapping the papers as I went.  You could go around the sides, too, but I chose to just use a paint dauber around the outside edges.  After I had all the papers down, I took a sanding sponge and roughed up the outside edges, making sure there weren’t any hanging over the sides.  Then I covered the whole thing with mod podge again. While the mod podge was drying, I went old school and cut a heart from the pink paper, by folding the paper in half and drawing half a heart and cutting it out.  I sure hope you get what I’m trying to relay here. Using my sanding sponge again, I lightly roughed up the edges of the heart.  Then I used the black paint dauber to go around the edges.  I just did this so that it would give it a little more definition.  And I loved how it made it stand out just enough.  Then I mod podged the heart over the papers, and then on top of the heart also.  The twine and the key were the last steps.  I wrapped the twine around the board several times, using hot glue in a few places to keep it where I wanted it, and tied the key on. And there ya have it.  I’m thinking about doing one similar for St. Patrick’s Day and Easter! I hope you enjoy this project as much as I did!  I actually did it on a Facebook live. French Door Island,

I adore this French Door Island!  This is the second one I’ve finished. The first island I finished was in white, and it had a floor, whereas this one is open on the bottom.  I think I like having a floor in there better (even though it is mega heavy), but either way, such a cool piece. I am not a carpenter, so all the glory of putting this together goes to my builder friend, Roger.  I show him my ideas and he makes it happen.  He’s good like that.  Everyone needs a “Roger” in their life.  I brought him an old panel door and a French door.  He pulled it all together. Once I brought this project back to my garage, it was time to get started.  Since I had already done a white version, I felt like this one wanted to be black.  Let’s Get Started! I started by sanding the door on top with my DeWalt Orbital Sander.  It was very chippy and that wasn’t quite the look I wanted, so it took quite a bit of time to get it to where I was happy with it.  Once I had it where I liked it, I cleaned it up and lightly sanded the French door so that it would be ready for paint. I sanded the French Door with the sanding sponge to be careful of the glass. I apologize.  The pictures aren’t the best. I had a really hard time photographing it for some reason; probably because of the size of it.  For the top, I used a mixture of paints to achieve the look.  I’m planning to do a tutorial very soon on how to achieve this look.  It’s hard to explain and easier to demonstrate in video.  In a nutshell, I base painted the door with “Burlap” by Dixie Belle. Then streaked over that with Miss Lillian’s Swamp Muds in Dark Brown and Dark Gray.  I always go a lot heavier with the brown, because that is the main color I want to see.  And then I kind of blend them a little with an old, soft rag.  Once that is all completely dry, I then go over the whole top with Miss Lillian’s “Truffle” Antiquing Glaze.  Then the next day I sealed it with Minwax Fast Drying Polyurethane “Clear Satin”.  I do 3 coats of that, lightly sanding between coats. That’s the top door…  now for the French door.  I lightly sanded it, being very careful not to scratch the glass with the sander or sanding sponge.  I have made that mistake plenty in the past. Once the French door is lightly sanded, washed down and dried, I then painted it with Dixie Belle’s black “Caviar”.  Two coats, letting dry completely before the second coat.  I used the Minwax Polyurethane for sealing this also, but only one coat since I did not feel it was a high traffic area. As for the rest of the piece…I stained it with Minwax Dark Walnut and sealed with the Minwax Polyurethane.  Supplies This list contains affiliate links, if you make a purchase I make a commission, your price stays the same. DIY Paper Mache Valentine’s Day Letters,

Looking for a quick Valentine’s Day décor project? I gotchu Boo! OK, these are a super easy, fun, home decor project!  You can do them to match the colors of the season or the colors of your home, etc.  I have done our last name in reds and greens to use in Christmas photos, and 2′ tall letters that spell ‘LOVE’ that have hung over our headboard for several years now.  Just some ideas to get your creative juices flowin! Let’s Get Started! The first thing I did was paint the letters pink.  You can use a foam brush or regular paint brush or even spray paint. I did front and back.  You really wouldn’t have to.  You could get by with just doing the edges but apparently I was an overachiever this day.  I should have picked my papers first.  If so then I would not have had to do the next step… If I had picked out my papers first, I would have chosen a different pink or altered it to match a little better.  But since I didn’t, I went over the pink with Miss Lillian’s white wash to make them marry together better.  I just put it on with a cheapo foam brush. After they were dry, I traced around each letter onto the desired scrapbook paper with a pen or pencil and then cut it out. If you are happy with your cut out and it fits, the next step is mod podging. Slather onto the paper mache letter and then lay your cut out paper down on top of it, being careful to keep air bubbles out.  You will want to keep pushing down on these with your fingers to make sure it is all adhesed to the paper mache.  I also take a paper towel around my finger and wipe away any excess they may have been pushed out.  Make double sure that all your edges have mod podge under them. Once they are dry, you can then take your sanding disk to rough up the edges. Be somewhat gentle so as not to tear your paper. Sand in one direction, toward the outside of the letters, if that makes sense.   For this project, I then took a little bit of the gray on the end of my foam brush and just lightly added it to all the edges.  Sometimes I just sand and leave it.  Just depends on the look I want. After the gray paint dries, you will put on your second and final coat of mod podge and you are done!
