DIY Pet Canvas

I ❤ my fur babies. Now that my kids are grown up, and one is out of the house, and the other wants to get out of the house, my fur babies have now taken over the house. And I’m not ashamed. To prepare (a week or two before), I had Courtney print out pictures on photo paper on my computer at home. I had to have her edit the images over to black and white for the look I wanted. If you don’t have a printer at home, there are sites like Walmart or Walgreens that can print and mail to you at home. First, I grabbed my canvas, and I picked my favorite pictures of them I wanted. I had to keep the pictures pretty fair; I couldn’t showcase one dog more than the other! I’m pretty lucky I have one with all three dogs in it! Then, I had to cut down pictures using my paper trimmer as they had white on the edges. When I had that done, I grabbed my canvas. On this project, I used 12×12 canvas. Then, I took Dixie Belle’s Caviar Paint and painted the sides and outsides of the canvas. The pictures would cover the rest of the canvas. On the pictures, I took my Ranger Tim Holtz Paint Dabber in black soot and trimmed the photos with it to give it a more finished and pristine look. Then I started to mod podge each photo on. For the center of the canvas, I used a scrap piece of scrapbook paper and mod podged it on. Next, I grabbed a sturdy piece of paper like card stock and took one of my alphabet stamp sets and StazOn stamp pads and stamped Sadie, Stella, Twinkie on the paper. (Y’all can see my mistake! I accidentally used the exclamation point instead of the ‘I.’ Woopsie!) I also edged the outside of these with the dabber too. I did have paper and some photo sticking off, so I took a sanding sponge and sanded the extra down. Then I reused the dabber to blend back in. I, then, mod podged the name tags on the scrapbook paper on the middle of the canvas. Last, I put a top coat on canvas which was the mod podge to give everything a final finish. Easy DIY Patriotic Crafts

Wood Letter ‘USA” Block I never thought I’d say this but I’m running out of scrap wood… These projects are draining my stash! If you’ve been following me, you may have seen my daily lives on Facebook. I have been doing many patriotic projects for Memorial Day and the Fourth of July. Check them out below! I started by sanding the edges of the wood for nice smooth edges. Next is a coat of paint! I chose Dixie Belle’s Cotton. If you have an old hairdryer to help dry the paint, then go right ahead but no need to, but for the sake of the video, I use a heat dryer. ? Then, I finished the edges off with a Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Paint Dauber. (I will link below.) I had these old wood letters from ages ago. I painted those red with acrylic paint and then glued the ‘S’ down first to establish the middle and then did the ‘U’ and ‘A.’ I used my hot glue gun for the glue. Stenciled ‘USA’ Wood Block On this scrap block, I painted it with Dixie Belle’s Cotton and finished the edges with Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Paint like above. This scrap block I stenciled with a stencil I got from Essential Stencil. (I will link in the Supply List.) I used Finger Paint Sponge Daubers with acrylic paint. Then to fill in the blank space, I wrapped raffia around the block into a bow and glued it down. Stenciled Patriotic Block I did this block almost exactly like the second block except I finished the edges last. You just never know how I’m going to do something! ‘USA’ Block Another woodblock… IMAGINE THAT. This ‘USA’ block I did in neutral colors for me. I absolutely love the Independence Day paper I used! First, I started with Dixie Belle Caviar Paint around the edges. Then I picked my scrapbook paper and cut it to the block size. Then comes the mod podge! Spread a whole coat on the top of the block and lay the paper down. I use a vinyl squeegee to get rid of all air bubbles and all excess mod podge underneath. These stencils are also from Essential Stencil. (linked below.) I started with the ‘S’ to establish the middle and then did the ‘U’ and ‘A.’ I used finger sponge daubers (linked below) with acrylic paint. I could have stopped there, but, of course, I had to bring the raffia out again. I wrapped the raffia around both sides and tied into bows securing with hot glue. Memorial Day Floral Arrangement On The Fly

So it’s Memorial Day weekend, and my husband comes in from working all morning.  I am working on the computer.  It’s about lunchtime, and he asks if I want to know if I want to go out to eat. He never asks if I want to go to eat somewhere…unless there is another reason.  I start thinking that maybe COVID has really gotten to him, and he just wants to go to a restaurant? Well, then it comes out that he would like to go to the cemetery on our way there or back.  Ok, it’s starting to make sense now. Oh, and “Do we have flowers to put on his Dad’s grave?”  I get up and leave the room, and he’s like, “Hey, we were talking…”.  I come back with a little pink flower arrangement that we have used before, but for his sister’s grave. So now that one is ok, we will use it for Denise, but we still need one for his Dad. I go to the garage this time and come back with 3 different containers that were handy.  And I had just happened to get in some silk flowers from Amazon last week.  I said, “If you want to, we can use these blue-ish flowers (blue was his dad’s favorite color) and put them in one of these containers.”  I had him pick the container.  Another option fitting for his dad would have been an old metal coffee container, but we would have had to empty one first, lol.  His dad used them for all kinds of storage in the shop. Then we had to come up with a way to make it stick into the ground so that it won’t be able to blow away.  We talked about a hot wire fence post, but that seemed like overkill, lol. This is what we finally landed on.  This was just a metal type can thing that I had left over from my store. We took it out to his shed and got started. First, he drilled a hole through the bottom. Then, Greg MIG welded the big metal rod to the can.  That was pretty tricky since the can is a pretty lightweight metal.  He said to please not judge his welding skills on this because this isn’t what he would typically be welding on, lol. After that, he ground down a rough spot then ran it under cold water to cool it off to be ready for me. I dried it with paper towels and then fit a couple blocks of floral foam inside the can. My plan was to hot glue them in, but once I jammed them in, it was not going to be easy to get them back out, so I left them. For the flowers, all I had to do was cut about an inch of the bush stem off to make them fit down in the can nicely.  I did add some hot glue to the stem before pushing it into the floral foam.  I don’t know if that actually helps or not, but I did it anyway. And that was just about it. I did add a new ribbon to Denise’s arrangement also.  It was just a pathetic, little satin bow that had seen better days.  I am not a bow maker, so don’t look closely, like at all, but it does look better than what it had on it.  I do plan to teach myself how to make some bows this year.  Stay tuned for that! I hope you all have a happy and safe Memorial Day Weekend!!! UPDATE: So the next day, it popped into my head that Larry’s can would have looked nice if I had stenciled “Dad” on it.  And I said it out loud.  In front of Greg.  He really, really liked that idea.  So we went back to the cemetery after lunch today with a baggie of crafting supplies to make it happen.  Give me a little slack, lol,  I stenciled it while on the ground.  I did forget to spray it with a sealer, so it is definitely not weather resistant…yet.  That will be our next trip! Mother’s Day Craft Ideas

Here a just a few Mother’s Day crafts that I have made lately. When I search for Mother’s Day craft ideas or Mother’s Day DIY, I don’t really find a whole lot.  At least not a lot that inspires me. Scrap Lumber with Furniture Transfer and Stencil This one came about because I had spilled pink paint and didn’t want to waste it. I just painted the scrap wood with the pink paint, stenciled “mom” on it and added the furniture transfers and sealed it.  Easy peasy.  Nothing too fancy.  I don’t love it, lol, but it will hopefully maybe inspire you to do something similar, but better J. Grandma’s Are Moms with Lots of Frosting This one was better in my head, lol.  It turned out ok, just not quite as planned, as most of my projects do! For this one, I just found this board in my scrap pile.  It was already spray painted a pale color, but I didn’t love it, so last minute, I decided to repaint it and went with dried sage. The next thing I did was Stencil “Grandma” down the side.  And then stenciled the saying.  I have no idea where this stencil came from.  It was all one stencil, two lines.  I ended up cutting it to work with my project.  Unfortunately, it is a really cheap, thin mylar.  I may not ever use it again.  I love the font, but the quality is lacking.  All stencils are not created equal. The furniture transfer came next.  If you have been with me for a while, you have seen me use quite a few of these.  Actually, this one I have used several times.  And by that, I mean that I have used parts of it for several projects.  I am not a hoarder, lol, but I do try to keep leftovers for small projects like these. I used this particular transfer on a dresser, this project, and the project above, and I think another small project somewhere along the way! And after it was all dry I just sprayed it with sealer. “MOM” Photo Holder For this project, I wanted to use my little wooden tags to spell out mom, which meant I had to find a board wide enough to accommodate that.  Nothing in my scrap pile was speaking to me, so I went to grab the saw, but apparently, hubby had snatched it from me.  He does that, lol.  I don’t think he likes me to use it!  He always says he would like me to have all my fingers at the end of the day! So at 5 minutes until I was to go live with this project, I am looking for the saw.  Thank goodness I caught him outside and asked where the saw was!  He had it in the shop but was more than happy to come make that one cut for me! I sanded the edges and got started painting the outside edge green. Then I painted the wood tags white and mod podged on the scrapbook paper. I used E6000 glue to glue on the letters, tags, and clothespins and done. Another Photo Holder from the Leftovers For this one, I still had more leftover paint so I used it on this piece of wood.  I had these cut to make signs out of. I painted the wood pink, mod podged on the leftover scrapbook paper from the last project and glued on the clothespin and flowers. These projects could easily be modified and/or used for other themes.  You could use different colors, different papers, etc. Your options are only limited by your imagination.

Stenciled Poop Signs and Pizza Paddle Map Signs

Poop Signs So, I finally get hubby to go live with me, and we made “poop” signs and pizza paddles with maps and stencils on them! For our 28th Anniversary, I finally got my hubby to come on with me and do a Facebook Live!  I have been trying to at least get him to sit in with me for one for the last year or two, and apparently, it took our anniversary to make it happen! Our first attempt did not exactly work out.  We had ordered some things to make your viewing pleasure better, lol.  The new laptop had come in, and we thought we had it figured out, but the same thing kept happening as it has in the past.  It is basically two cameras, one on me and one on the project.  And we thought the new laptop would make it work.  Wrong.  At least not yet.  The lag time between my voice and what I am actually saying is definitely not syncing!  It was way worse than those old kung fu movies where the words and mouths don’t match up!  Like the one below from Kung Pow! Enter the Fist… But we were so excited with all the equipment, and we wanted to try.  We do have technical help coming soon and hope to get it going eventually! The next hurdle…after that chaos and trying to hurry things along so Greg could get back to work, I accidentally went live inside my free group “The Flippin Community.”  Not a big deal except that I only have about 650 people in there, compared to my “Flippin Furniture” page that has over 45,000.  Facepalm here!!!! Anyway…I didn’t realize it until an hour or so later. For the first project, we did “poop” signs and hubby did awesome!  He is a natural!  Maybe because he has seen me do it a million times?  Who knows, but he rocked it! We painted the blocks of wood and dried them with the little dryer.  Then we stenciled our signs and dried again. The blocks were a little bigger than the stencil, so we placed them low to leave room at the top for twine and greenery. When finished we spray sealed them. I think Greg had one letter that smudged a little because the stencil shifted, and I just took a tiny paintbrush with the base color and touched up around it and “perfect.” So after I figured out that we had not gone live on my page, I told him we needed a redo!  And he agreed!!! So for our next project, I didn’t want to do the same thing. Pizza Paddles I chose the pizza paddles (I just happen to have a ton of them on hand). First, we traced around our paddles onto the map and cut it out. Next, we mod podged it onto our boards, hit them with the dryer a little, and then mod podged over the top and dried some more. Then we stenciled sayings on.  Greg’s saying was “Home Sweet Home,” and mine ended up being “The Road Home.”  I had wanted to do a longer saying, but it became evident rather quickly that my original saying “the world needs who you were meant to be” was not going to fit!  So I asked the viewers to give me a smaller saying, and that was what we settled on! The last two things we did was use our paint dabbers around the edges and then spray sealed the whole project! Hubby did great!  He really, really did!  And that was a good part of our 28th Wedding Anniversary! We don’t really do gifts.  We treat each other right every day of the year, so we don’t really feel the need. How do you think he did? Are you going to try either of these projects? DIY Memorial Gift

Hey Guys! This is Courtney, Tammy’s Daughter. I’m not much of a crafter or DIY’er like my mom, but I have done a project here and there for a gift. I love being able to give a gift with meaning and being able to put heart into it. Although I love giving gifts, this time, it was not a fun gift because of the meaning. My boyfriend’s father passed away at the end of last year, unexpectedly. I had decided to save a rose from this casket spray for a gift to give to his grandmother. There are many different ways to preserve flowers. The way I preserve it is to just place it in the freezer. I can’t say how long it was in the freezer, maybe a few weeks? They are very fragile, so be very careful. The shadow box I used I purchased from Hobby Lobby. I painted the shadow box black using a foam brush. Be very careful around the glass… I used scrap scrapbook paper and taped it on the outside to hopefully save it from getting paint on it. I still got some paint on the glass. No worries! Just take a razor blade against the glass, and it should peel right off. Before this next part, take the funeral program and split it down the crease breaking in half. Then came the mod podge. Paint a layer of the mod podge on the inside, then lay down the funeral program. Then spread another layer of mod podge on top of the program to ensure that it sticks. You don’t have to do this next part, but I thought it would add something. My mom had some twine lying around, so I took the twine and started wrapping around the stem of the rose. When I reached the spot where I thought it looked good, I hot glued the twine to the stem. Next, I hot glued the rose to the shadow box next to the program. I do not have a complete photo. Side Note: I did almost this exact project 5 years ago when my grandpa passed away. I made it as a gift for my grandma for Christmas… I only did the flowers wrapped in twine and glued a cross to the shadow box. Supplies **these are affiliate links. Drawer Wall Hanging & Old Window Hanging

I have kept so many drawers over the years.  And thrown so many away.  They can make such cool repurposes!!! I have made pet beds, pillow storage, wall shelves, jewelry organizers, etc. I try to be more selective about which drawers I keep.  I used to keep them all, but I only have so much room, so if they have a flimsy bottom or aren’t real wood, they get kicked to the curb. ? Drawer Wall Hanging This cute little drawer happened to make the cut and got to stick around! I made this on a Facebook live one day.  I took off the hardware completely since you wouldn’t really be able to see it while it was hanging on the wall anyway, and you could place a photo or something on the top if you wanted too! The mainframe of the drawer, inside and out, I painted a very dark brown, but it does look black in the picture. The next thing I did was cut the fabric to roughly fit inside the drawer and then applied it to the drawer with mod podge. Once it was on there, I put another coat over the top of the fabric and then left it to dry overnight. When I cut the fabric, it was just a little big because, and then I think it stretched a little bit while I was working it and smoothing it out.  If you let the mod podge sit overnight, you can easily cut off the excess with a razor blade.  Just be careful not to gouge into the wood, or you may have to touch up the paint. I staged it a few different ways just to give my followers some ideas on how to make it their own. I love how it turned out, and I love the little wreath I hung in there!  Isn’t it just the cutest! This would go perfect in my house!  Would it go with your home décor? Old Window Turned Coffee Themed Wall Hanging Since I have been doing lives every day, I am definitely going through some of my stashes that have been in my way for soooooo long!  This cute little window was up against the deep freeze with several old picture frames and canvases…just waiting for its turn. Apparently, I almost used it a long time ago because it was already sanded and pretty well ready to go.  I just cleaned it up and washed the window, and it was ready. I was just this perfect little window, white and distressed and ready to shine. I couldn’t find any of my stencils on hand that would fit it perfectly, but I did find this close one.  I just didn’t use some of the borders around it. Then I used my little finger dabbers and enamel paint and went to town.  I used black for all the lettering and brown for the mug with a little bit of white for the “steam”.  Voile.  The perfect coffee themed wall hanging to go with your coffee bar! Wood Blocks/Books Sets

The next craft obsession I am onto is wood “books.”  I have so many ideas on how to decorate them and different sayings, names, dates.  Standing them up and/or displaying them lying down. But let’s just hop on into it. EASTER BOOK SET These were fun!  As with a lot of my projects, it started with a look through my scrap woodpile. I found three that would work and set about painting them Easter colors, then I distressed and glazed them. Then I used my little stamps to stamp the words on.  I think the letters are about ¼” tall.  I used StazOn ink and used the heat gun to make sure it was set before I handled them.  I would hate to have smeared them and have to start over! Once dry, I hot glued the pieces all together and tied raffia all around them into a bow and added a little greenery. So cute, don’t ya think? FARMHOUSE BOOK SET For this set, I used thicker blocks.  They were scraps from 2″ x 4″‘s. I painted two of them white and the middle on black. My daughter had just picked me up this stamp set with bigger letters the other day.  They were the perfect size for these blocks. Once I stamped “Home, Sweet, Home” on them and they were dry, I distressed them with the sanding sponge.  Next, I hot glued the three books together.  Then tied a piece of fabric around them and then some strands of raffia.  And stuck on some greenery for the final touch. Lastly, I sprayed the whole set with spray poly.  It just makes it a little easier to dust and takes away the chalky feel the paint has before it is sealed. COFFEE SWEET COFFEE This suggestion was made while I was on the live making the last set! I couldn’t get it off my mind, so I had to make it happen! I used 2″ x 4″ scraps again.  This time I painted two of them black and one of them “dried sage”. I used my new stamps again!  And I did distress the black books and used a little black paint dabber around the edges of the middle book. I wrapped the set with fabric and tucked in a little greenery held in place by hot glue. Another set done! Do you wanna see one more set??? BABY BLOCK SET If you have ever seen my Facebook lives, you know what a mess I am.  And it should come as no surprise that I spill paint, sealer, basically pretty much everything, quite often.  This time it had been pink paint.  So that is what inspired me to do the baby set. I didn’t want the paint to go to waste, so I grabbed a brush and painted some scraps! I used scrap 2″ x 4″ again.  I painted two white and one pink. I used my little stamp sets for the numbers and “baby”. The other stamps I have had for at least 15 years. I mod podged some scrapbook paper on the top and finished with pink and natural raffia and greenery. I just thought these could be cute baby shower center pieces?  Could put baby’s name, or last name, or birth year? This was my least favorite set for some reason.  Oh, well.  I still hope it inspires you to make some even cuter! Stick Projects!

Projects made from sticks in your yard! It doesn’t get much simpler than this! The first one is more of an Easter craft, and the second one is more ‘springtime,’ and the third one is ‘anytime’!! The Three Crosses I wanted a small, rectangular-shaped box for this project, but I came across this old mini loaf pan and ran with it! First, I started with my sticks. I just guessed at the sizes of the sticks and broke them to the length I thought they should be. When I placed the smaller stick across the taller one, I carved out just a tiny bit of wood to give it a little bit of flat area to help it lay better. I then hot glued them together and then wrapped twine around them and hot glued it on the backside. In the loaf pan, I glued floral styrofoam to have something for my sticks to stick in. Next, I took a smaller twig and “pre-drilled,” where I wanted the crosses to go. Once I was happy with the placement, I put the bigger sticks in. ✝ After that, I added the Spanish Moss. I was also wanting to add in some of those green, mossy looking rocks that are usually available at the Dollar Tree, but they did not have any at the store I went to. Anyway, I hot glued the Spanish Moss on and then glued on the little rocks. I basically placed them randomly and then around the bases of the crosses. Easy enough for kids to do also! Another super simple burst of sunshine! Depending on the age of your children, they may be able to do this one also! Or at least go pick you out some sticks! Spring Time Flower Garden Like so many of my crafts start…I went to one of my scrap piles and pulled out a piece. This was a cool piece of barn wood. I barely knocked the cobwebs off of it before I started, lol. You could clean it up more and even clear coat it if you wanted to. I just broke some twigs to the height I thought I wanted and hot glued them on. If I had made them a couple inches shorter, I could have either stenciled a word across the top or added more butterflies or some bees. Next, I rummaged through my scrapbook flowers and brought out some springy flowers and hot glued those on. I also found some random leaves in the mix, so I glued some of those on also. And a butterfly. The last step was adding the Spanish Moss at the bottom. I did these project live on Facebook if you would like to see my physically do them, see the video below! Another Spring Flower Garden For this one, I got another piece of random scrap wood. Instead of staining the wood, I just put on some brown glaze and rubbed it in good and used my heat gun to make sure it was dry before the next step. The next thing I did was add the bee transfer. I just thought it looked sooo cute! And for the rest of it, I just did it exactly the same way as above. Stick Art Initial For this project, I chose an old, small cabinet door. I cleaned it up and painted it “dried sage” and dried it with my heat gun. The next step is a little boring. Ok, probably a lot boring, at least if you were watching me do this live on Facebook. Anywho…it’s pretty self-explanatory but you break the sticks to the size you want. I started at the bottom with longer pieces and worked my way up. If this is clear as mud, feel free to watch the live. Once I had the “H” complete, I just felt like it needed something. I added a little bit of my black paint dabber to go around the edges to finish it off. You could add some florals if you wanted to add more to it. Whatever your style is, make it your own! I hope you have enjoyed playing with the sticks as much as I have! So easy and cheap! See you next time! Supplies: Sticks from your yard! More Fun with Furniture Transfers!

So I have had this awesome, little green window laying in my garage in my way, for quite some time. I have been doing lives every day for a while now. I rarely plan ahead for these. So I was scrounging around looking for a project. I spied the window. And I had furniture transfers open from the previous crafting live. I hurriedly washed the window and ran inside to make lunch and let the window dry. IF I had been prepared, I would have sanded the window before going live also, but I wasn’t. So I did end up sanding the window after the live. Basically, you just apply the transfer to it. I cut out the pieces I wanted and kind of laid them out where I thought I would like them. I knew where I wanted the script to go, so I just laid out the flowers around that. And then I started rubbing. The transfers come with this little stick that you rub the transfer onto your surface with. https://flippinfurnitureshop.com/products/overflowing-love-redesign-decor-transfer That’s it! Pretty simple. If you want to watch me do it, you can watch the video of me doing this window here… One of a Kind Mirror Makeover This was another one of those things that just laid around in my way. I had spray painted the mirror and distressed it. I had meant to take it to my store, but for whatever reason, it never made it there. Then I closed the store. And still, it sat. Skip ahead a few months, and I am needing to do a Facebook live and looking for something to make. It was this mirror’s time to shine! I dusted it off and cleaned the glass, and we had a beautiful, clean slate to work on! I also did this one on a Facebook live, so if you would like to actually watch me do the video, you can… So, I roughly decided how I wanted the transfer to go. I knew I wanted it on the left side of the mirror for the most part. I was also going to add some random small flowers here and there, but in the end, I felt like the left side was good, and I needed to leave some of the mirror showing, right?!? Also, knowing I was planning to also stencil the window, I had to trim down the side of the transfer a little bit. Once I had it cut and figured out how I wanted it placed, I commenced rubbing it on. After the transfer was in place, I got my paint and finger sponge ready. I did a little research about what type of paint to use on glass. Enamel was the recommendation. So I laid my stencil down and dabbed on the paint. I have also checked, and the furniture transfers are ok to be put on glass. They just tell you not to use any chemicals on it, like glass cleaner. So I would probably just Swiffer it to be safe. And there ya have it. Two more uses for furniture transfers! https://flippinfurnitureshop.com/products/fuchsia-sunset-redesign-decor-transfer

Beautiful Ways to Display Your Vintage Photos

In one of my recent blog posts, I showed you these two photographs that I had picked up while out thrifting. I do not know these people. I’m pretty sure I am not related to any of them. But I have now adopted them. Unless you know them, then I would love to see them in the hands of their rightful family. So anyway, I keep thinking about these awesome photographs, and I know I NEED to do something cool with them. While I am at my computer one day, the idea came to me. Old clipboard + old photograph = very cool vintage display. I knew I had an old clipboard somewhere, and luckily it wasn’t too hard to find. Vintage Clipboard Photo Display First, I painted the clip with patina paint. I used a little bit of copper and a little bit of the bronze. Then let it dry. Next, I mod podged on a piece of scrapbook paper with the look and feel of what I was going for. I also mod podged over the top of the scrapbook paper. While that top coat of mod podge was still wet, I laid the photo down on top of it to glue it on. At this point, I put a chunk of scrap wood about the same size as the picture on top of the picture and then added weight. I think I used full paint cans. I just wanted it heavy enough to keep it laid down to stick. Then I added the little burlap flower with a dot of hot glue. For the last step, I just wired on the two old keys (you can barely see them) and the padlock. I just wanted something old and vintage-y feeling. And this is it for this project! I haven’t done it yet, but it think it would be adorable displayed in an easel! Another Vintage Photo Idea The idea for this one also just came to me right out of the blue. I decided it would be cute on a jug. But I wanted an amber jug. I checked my carport stash of glassware—no Bueno. I did find a regular glass jug, but it just wasn’t the look I wanted. I kept thinking, “I know I have one around here somewhere.” It finally hit me. I had one in my kitchen, with a cute chevron ribbon tied around it. So I snatched it, dusted it off a little, and got to work on it. Of course, I chose to do this on a live. And I could tell right away that it was not going to work exactly the way I was hoping. I slathered on some mod podge and put the photo on it. It wasn’t really conforming. I did not want to curl with the jug. So…I ran into my house and grabbed some rubber bands. I probably placed about ten rubber bands around the picture/jar to get it to hold. I had to excuse myself from the live and come back later, lol. So I brought the jug in the house with me while I had to do some work on the computer, and I kept pushing it down when it wanted to come up and or readjust rubber bands. Once that fiasco was under control, I came back live and finished it. I can’t remember when I made the tag for it exactly, but here’s how I did it. I stamped the tag with a script stamp, then stamped again with letters that spelled out “family” and glued on a little burlap flower. I put a coat of mod podge over the photo also. Next, I wrapped twine around the top and bottom of the photo and secured it with hot glue on the backside. I just thought it added a little something to it. And there you have it! Two ways to make a unique display with your vintage family photos!

Dresser & Side Table ft. Furniture Transfers

So, today was day 12 of going live. I did this side table and dresser one-day last week, during one of those lives. SIDE TABLE I used Yankee Blue from Dixie Belle. While I liked the color, it really wasn’t as navy as I wanted, so I added some Black Walnut Glaze from Miss Lillian’s. That was much closer. My sister in law is the one who I went junkin’ with the previous weekend, and we had been talking about her redoing her bedroom. She showed me her new comforter, and we talked about paint colors, etc. She was also telling me about a few projects I had sold at my store that she had loved, that had floral transfers on them. So when she commented “navy,” I got an idea. I will paint it for her bedroom redo and add the floral transfers that she loved! So that is exactly what I did. Unfortunately, this transfer must be discontinued because I couldn’t find them online. At least not on Amazon anyway, but there are others to choose from. The colors of her comforter (I think) are navy, teal, gray, and mauve. I used little gray flowers and a cluster with tealish and mauvish colors. I sealed with Dixie Belle’s clear coat in satin and done. Nothing to look at, but had good bones. I don’t think I have ever come across a piece of blonde furniture that wasn’t well made. Occasionally there may be a veneer issue, but all in all, they are sturdy. For this dresser, after cleaning it all up, I sanded the whole thing. There was some loose veneer in a couple places, so I just sanded extra there. For the side table, I asked on my page what color I should paint it. Only two people answered. One said navy blue, and the other said red. Well, the blue one was my sister in law, so I went that way. After the drawers were sanded and cleaned up, I stained them. I used a walnut stain. It didn’t go a ton darker, but it was just enough, in my opinion. If I had gone too dark, then the transfer would have been less noticeable. And that would have been ok, also, but wasn’t quite what I wanted this time. Then I painted the mainframe with Dixie Belle’s Caviar. My favorite black paint. Two coats. Distressed. Then sealed with Dixie Belle’s Clear Coat in Satin. I was a bit rusty when I did this one. And I did it on a Facebook live, on a friend’s page! What was I thinking? Oh well, it turned out beautiful! It doesn’t matter that I was sweating bullets, right? After I applied the transfer, I sealed it with two coats of Dixie Belle’s Clear Coat in Satin, and that’s a wrap! Unfortunately, I’m afraid this transfer is also discontinued. I was going to put a link in for it, but I could not find it on Amazon. If you have used these transfers or do in the future…I would love to see them! I have a couple more that I cannot wait to work on! Hopefully soon! Stay tuned! If you want to see me actually applying them, here ya go…. Don’t know where to find the transfers?
