Make Your Own Christmas Gift Decor

Are you dreaming of Christmas already? If you are like me then you answered, Yes!!! Supplies need for Christmas wood block gift decor: Scrap wood pieces Scrapbook paper Mod Podge Paint brush Black Paint Cloth Twine/ribbon Hot Glue Gun Steps to Make a DIY Christmas Wood block Gift Decor: Grab your piece of wood and start painting all sides black. Using a sponge paint brush making sure you get all the edges covered. Cut your selected scrapbook paper to fit the front of your wood block. Then apply modge podge to the top of the wood and lay your scrapbook paper down. Using a flat edge going from the center out squeeze all that extra modge podge out. Take a cloth or napkin and wipe the excess modge podge off of the edges. Now using your second piece of scrapbook paper repeat the same steps. above. Cut your paper to fit the wood board. Modge podge the paper onto your board. Using a squeezy move all the excess modge podge to the edges of your wood piece Then wipe the excess off using your cloth. Using twine wrap it around your wood block like a present. Start with your wood piece face down and hot glue the twine to the back before bringing it to the front to help hold it in place. Once the glue is dry flip your board back over face up and cross them over and tie a bow Take some greenery stems and add to the middle under your bow. Place some hot glue down to help hold the greenry in place. Easy DIY Winter Sign

Are you ready to start decorating for the winter months? Today I am showing you how to make your own DIY winter sign in less than 20 minutes. It’s an easy and simple project that you can make as gifts to friends, loved ones, or just add it to your shop! I love the distressed look and the paint colors this sign brings to my holiday decor. This year, I was wondering what would be a cute sign that I could have up in my home through all the winter holiday months. After some brainstorming, I decided to paint a wood sign with the word SNOW on it. It is the perfect way to have cute decor that can stay up all winter long and not be to a specific holiday. It reminds me of the AMERICA wood sign I made for my entryway for the 4th of July this year! Using a piece of wood, stencils, paint, and a sander you too can make your own DIY winter sign by following along with me in this tutorial video. This DIY wood sign makes for the perfect “Christmas in July” project! Easy DIY Winter Sign To start this easy DIY wood sign craft you first need to think about where you would like to display this sign. Once you know where it will likely go this will help you determine the size of your wood blank you need to cut or which one to grab from your pile of scarps. Also, my individual stencil letters are rather large depending on the size of yours will also help determine the size your board will need to be. Keep watching and you will see how my little accident turned into a masterpiece if I do say so myself! Winter Sign Supplies Wood blank Paintbrush Black Paint Daubers Clear coat Hand sander White Paint Turquoise Paint Make Your Own Winter Snow Sign with these Instructions Step 1: To start you will want to find the right size board for your project. Once you have decided on your size you will want to give it a good sanding with your hand sander if your board is rough. Step 2: Once you prepped your board start by giving it a base color. I choose back for mine. Using a paintbrush cover your board with the paint of your choice. Step 3: After that base paint is dry you can start stenciling on your letters. If you want to speed up the drying process us a heat gun. Step 4: I was going to paint my letters white but accidentally mixed the white into some paint I already had on my plate but it turned out fabulous. If you would like the same look I did you will just need to mix white and turquoise paint together. I used my pouncer to fill in the letters of each stencil. I started at the top with the letter “S”. Step 5: Next, continue adding your letters vertically on your sign. The next letter will be “N”. Step 6: Now add the letter “O” by stenciling it on. You may have to mix more white and turquoise together and it is ok if it is not exactly the same.  Step 7: Finishing your sign off with your last letter “W” daubing the paint inside your stencil filling in your letter “W” stencil.  Step 8: To add so fun features to your sign you can take a tiny paintbrush and make little small white snowflakes all around the letters that spelled out “SNOW”. Step 9: Allow time for your letters to dry before continuing on to the next steps. Step 10: Take a hand sander and go around the edges and distress the sides of your sign. You can even go over the letters a bit to distress them but be very careful.  Step 11: Once it is all dry paint a clear coat over your sign. I prefer to use the Dixie Belle Paint brand for my clear coat. This DIY winter sign is so easy that you can make multiples to gift to friends as gifts or make to give to a secret Santa at work. DIY Drink Local Wood Sign

I love gifting gifts to friends when we go over for an afternoon of fun and mingling. I have a few friends that have tiki bars and outside pool areas that I thought making them a DIY drink local wood sign would be a perfect gift to give them that is fun for the next time we are invited over. With just a simple wood blank, some paint, and individual stencil letters this sign is so simple to make yourself but also looks amazing when done! What I love most about DIY wood signs is that you can customize any sign to fit the outside area you are hoping to place it. Just think about your friends and whom you wish to gift it to and I am sure there are so many different possibilities when it comes to picking the paint colors for your sign. If they are huge football fans, you can make the sign the colors of their favorite football team. Also, it never hurts to stick to what I did and do black and white. That color combo really goes with anything honestly! DIY Drink Local Wood Sign Today I am showing you exactly how to make a DIY drink local wood sign to keep for yourself or gift to a friend. I am using the same technique I used to make my DIY Family sign. Using only a blank piece of wood, stencils, and sponge daubers, and paint I promise this is truly the best way to make your own DIY signs that I promise you will love for yourself or find that it is perfect for gifting to others. Supplies to make Drink Local Wood Sign: Paintbrush Wood blank Black Paint White Paint Heat Gun Sponge Daubers Letter Stencils Instructions for this DIY Drink Local Wood Sign Start by applying a black coat of paint onto your board. Make sure it is dried before moving to the next step. If you wish to speed up the process you can use your heat gun.  Using individual letter stencils lay them out to make sure you can fit them all on your sign. Grab your pouncer and using milky white paint start dabbing your paint into the inside of your stencil. I work the inside first and then go back and touch up any places I may have missed.  With a heat gun dry each letter as you can go. That way you do not smear your paint as you add more letters to make your words Once you finish painting DRINK you are going to work backwards with your second word. To make sure you get it lined up and the word fits!  You will do each letter in the word “LOCAL” just like you did when painting “DRINK”. Go back and touch up any spots of black that need to be touched up on your wood sign that you may have missed.  After you allow it to dry you will want to seal it with a clear coat How do you stencil on wood without bleeding? It is so important to know how to stencil on wood without bleeding from your paint. I highly suggest that you go really slow when stenciling onto the wood. You will also want to use sponge daubers when placing paint it really helps you see where your paint is going and where it has been. Less is more when stenciling. It is always easier to add more paint than take away! You will just love how beautiful this turns out and like I said this will be the perfect gift to give to your friends who have an outdoor tiki bar or pool area. How to Make a Patriotic Wall Decor

It is that time of year again to decorate with your patriotic decor. If you are looking for a creative way to bring more decor to the walls of your home then this patriotic wall decor with ribbons is exactly what you are looking for! The best and easiest way to add patriotic décor to your home is by making new wall décor to hang. You can easily accomplish this by using some stencils a scrap piece of wood you likely have already in your home. I love that when I am ready to make something new for my home I mostly have all I need right in my craft room or garage! Making new décor doesn’t have to be expensive or super hard. This would even match perfectly to the already USA wood sign you have made. Patriotic Wall Decor Tutorial I love summers because of all the time we spend outside with friends and family. We have BBQ’s, and even all come together to celebrate America for the 4th of July. This year I wanted to add something new to my patriotic décor by adding something unique and fun to my walls. I decided that making a new patriotic wall décor with ribbon would be perfect. Using my patriotic stencils, barn wood, and just a few different ribbons I was able to accomplish new décor in less than an hour. Make Your Own Patriotic Wall Decor You too can create this for your home. It is simple and you likely have all the supplies already in your home. Watch the tutorial below to see exactly how I did it! Supplies needed: 18-inch board  Stain for wood Variety of Ribbon Patriotic Stencils Hot Glue Sponge Dauber Red, white, & Blue Paint Steps to Make a Patriotic Wall Décor with ribbons Stain your wood and allow it to dry. Take about 8 different colors and patterns of ribbon that you have and cut them all the same length.  Turn your board over so the back is facing up. You will glue your precut ribbon using hot glue to the back of the board. I space out the thinnest ribbons first and spread them out along the board so you are able to alternative patterns and colors. Continue gluing the ribbon across the board until you have placed all your cut ribbons. Flip your board over and trim down some of the longer hanging ribbons so that all of them are the same length.  Once you have them all placed and glued to the board you can go back with a stapler and give them an extra anchor.  Place the stencil on top of your board and start adding paint using your sponge dauber and filling in your stencil of choice. I choose to put “America the Beautiful” on the left side in red paint. Then on the right side, I stenciled “Land that I love” in red paint as well Allow the paint on both sides to dry before adding the stars to the middle Then once dried using your star stencils, stencil red, white, and blue stars. Ways to add patriotic decor outside When it comes to decorating patriotic there is no need to have all your décor on the inside. There are plenty of ways to show your love for America outside as well as inside. I love decorating the entryway of my home with a large America Sign and some wooden firecrackers placed around it. You can also add a small garden flag, some beautiful potted plants, and I have seen some people do some cute stars in their grass using stencils and all-purpose flour. DIY America Wood Sign

You know I love anything DIY especially signs. I have found that making my own wooden signs for my home brings me so much joy. Supplies Needed: Wood blank Stencils Sponge Daubers Paint Steps to make a DIY America Wood Sign 1 – To begin, wipe down your 5 foot wooden board to clean it up from any debris. 2 – Grab your Minwax Wiping Stain and Finish. Wipe over your entire board, edges as well, with a rag to give it a good stain. 3 – Be sure your stain is nice and even throughout. 4 – With a towel, just give a good wipe. 5- Grab your “God Bless America” letter stencils and place on your board. Position how you like. 6 – Grab red, white, and blue acrylic paints. Squirt a bit out on a paper plate, construction paper, etc. 7 – With your jumbo finger sponge daubers or a painting sponge and some blue paint, begin dabbing/pouncing “God bless” from your stencil set on your board. Be sure you are holding your stencil in place as you work, adding a bit of paint so it doesn’t bleed through. 8 – When you are finished with your painting sponge daubers, you can rinse them out, and use them again. Just don’t forget about them. 9 – Grab your red acrylic paint next, and paint your star. Be sure your acrylic is thick and not transparent. 10 – With white paint next, dab your letter “A” remembering to hold your stencils in place as you work.  11 –  Letter “M” will be red. Alternate your colors, with white and red as you paint in your letters for America on your sign. Repeat throughout your sign. 12 – Paint the tiny stars found throughout the letters of “America” on your stencil to accentuate your patriotic colors for this project.  13 – Now that you are finished carefully remove your stencils and let it dry completely.  14 – To seal, especially if your sign will be placed outside, use a polyurethane spray to finish up your board. Simple USA and Family DIY Wood Sign Tutorial

Today I am showing you exactly how to create your own USA wood sign as well as a wood sign that says family in this DIY wood sign tutorial. The best part about DIY wood signs is you can make them exactly the size you need as well as colors. What better way to add to your own decor than making some wood signs to match your decor? Simple USA and Family DIY Wood Sign Tutorial I love adding a sign with words on it for different holidays throughout the year. Especially cute wooden block signs for the fourth of July. These wood signs are really the ideal way to add a little more to your already established home décor as well as bring in some extra holiday decorations. Grab all your supplies needed and let’s get crafting!   Supplies needed to make wood signs: Wood blanks Paint Scrapbook paper Finger daubers – https://flippinfurnitureshop.com/products/jumbo-daubers-pack-of-6-notions Hand sander Brown Glaze Stain Paper towels Modge Podge – https://amzn.to/4i85NPE Steps on how to make your own DIY wood sign using USA letter stencils  Step 1: Paint your wood blank a solid color of your choice. I choose black because it matches the decor I am wanting to put these with. As always allow your paint to completely dry. I like to use a heat gun to speed up the process.  Step 2: Choose the scrapbook paper you wish to decorate with. Cut it to fit your board size. Cut it down to allow there to be a border all the way around your scrapbook paper. You should see the same width of your board all the way around.  Step 3: Add modge podge to your board. Lay down your scrapbook paper and use a squeegee to help spread your modge podge around. This helps to really secure your corners to the board. Using a paper towel or a baby wipe, wipe off any excess glue you see that can be wiped off.  Step 4: Layout your individual lettered stencils. U S A. Make sure you know where each one is going before you start adding paint. Once they are laid out and you know where they are going. Remove the U and the A and start stenciling the S.  Step 5: Grab your finger daubers and start dabbing paint making your S. I choose to use black paint for the S. Remember to know push down too hard when adding your paint. You do not want to it smear or run. Before adding your next layer since these stencils overlap you may want to allow it time to dry or speed up the drying process using your heat gun.  Step 6: Now stencil on the letter A. Using black paint again and your finger dauber. I like to go around the edges first and then fill in the middle.  Step 7: Finish off stenciling the letters. The letter U is the first letter in USA but however the last letter I stenciled. This really helps keep things lined up and centered when stenciling individual letters.  Step 8: Look over the letters you stenciled on and go back and fill in any spots on your letters that you think need a little touch-up with paint. I then dry with a heat gun. Making sure each letter is nice and dry.  Step 9: Add some paper straw bows to each end of your board. Place a little hot glue on your board before making your bow. Flip the board over once your bows are tied and add a little hot glue to help secure them on a little better and keep them from sliding.  Steps on how to make a DIY wood sign that says FAMILY Step 1: Prep your wood. Make sure your board is nice and sanded and free of any dust before starting.  Step 2: Using a tan cream scheme I picked out some scrapbook paper that would work best with that color scheme I was going for.  Step 3: Stain your edges with a brown glaze stain. Using just a paper towel to apply it add a little bit of stain at a time and continue adding it to the edges of your board. Once you are done dry it with your heat gun to speed up the process.  Step 4: Cut your scrapbook papers into three smaller sections. Lay them out and make sure that is how you want them to be Step 5: Add your modge podge to your board a section at a time. Then place the scrapbook paper that you just cut on top of your modge podge. These do not have to be perfect as this is just a little background paper for the stencil work you are about to add.  Step 6: Take your squeegee and press out the modge podge to allow it to spread to all the corners of your paper. This really helps seal all the edges.  Step 7: Using a hand sander, sanding gently to not rip the paper. Go around the edges to sand down the edges  just a little  Step 8: Modge Podge over the top of the scrapbook paper you just laid.  Step 9: Layout the letters to spell FAMILY. Yes, be sure you have laid them laid out correctly to spell FAMILY. ONce you have gotten a visual remove all the letters but F. With this sign we will be working for the left to right. Stencil each letter with black paint using your finger dauber. These are my favorite way to stencil. Working your way around the edges then filling in the center.  Step 10: Using your heat gun speed up your drying process and really make sure your letters are dry.  How to use a stencil when painting a wood sign? Using a stencil to paint letters or sayings onto a wood blank is pretty simple however you want to remember a few important things when using stencils and paint.  Be sure you have the visual before you start painting.  Layout your stencil and make sure it will fit on your board perfectly before painting.  When trying to center a saying or letters I lay it out and then stencil the middle letter first to keep things centered.  Add paint to the outside of your stencil before filling in the center. DIY Patriotic Wood Signs

It is almost July which means it’s almost time to put out all your patriotic decor in your home. I love all things red, white, and blue and decorating patriotic. Celebrating America’s birthday is something I love doing every year. This year I was wanting to add some new things to my patriotic decor. I decided to make some super cute and simple patriotic wood signs and am loving how they turned out. I know you will love them too! DIY 4th of July Sign Today I am sharing with you how to make two different wooden DIY 4th of July signs by using wood blanks, paint, and stencils. These make absolutely the best decorations to add to your tables, mantle, or a tiered tray for the 4th of July holiday. I hope this will inspire you to create your own DIY patriotic signs. That way you can proudly display them in your own home and get ready to celebrate the red, white, and blue this 4th of July! Crafting and creating your own DIY patriotic wooden signs is so simple you can even get the kids involved. They will love making some fun DIY summer decor. Allow your kids to get creative and decide what colors and stencils they want on their own wooden blocks. There are never too many patriotic wood signs in a home. Supplies needed: Wood blanks Patriotic Stencils Paint Mod Podge Scrapbook Paper Paintbrush Sponge Daubers Twine Steps for making DIY Patriotic Wood Signs Step 1: Paint your precut wood. For this project, I painted one black and the other piece white. Allow time for your paint to dry or use a heat gun to speed up the process. You can go back and touch up any spots you missed after you finish. Step 2: Next we will add scrapbook paper to your boards. Start by cutting your scrapbook paper equally to fit across your wood blank. For the first project, I cut mine about 6 inches in width each. The tall slender piece of wood, which I did second I used one pattern of scrapbook paper on the bottom portion and a different pattern on the top portion. You can get creative with your paper and mix up colors and patterns. There is no wrong or right way. Step 3: Using a paintbrush modge podge the top of your wood. I only do a section at a time as I will be laying the precut scrapbook paper over these sections. After you lay your scrapbook paper down take a squeegee and really press that modge podge all around. This helps make sure it reaches the corners of the paper. Repeat this for each section of your board adding your paper a section at a time. Step 4: Using a hand sander sand down all the edges of your board. This helps secure the ends of your scrapbook paper to your board and you wont have little gaps. Step 5: Layout your 4th of July stencils onto your board. Grab your finger sponge daubers, and start applying paint around the edges of your stencils. Dipping your sponger daubers in the paint color of your choice work your way around the edge of your stencil. Continue filling in the center of your stencil. I alternated red, white, and blue paint colors on different words and stars to make it more patriotic. You can do whatever you like and what looks best on top of the scrapbook paper you choose. This is where your creativity comes in! Step 6: Using a black paint dobber, finish off the edges by going all the way around with black. Be sure to go back and add black to the edges. Step 7: On your tall slender piece of wood you can add some twine. Simply just tie around at the top for some added flair. Wooden patriotic signs are not only the perfect decorations for the 4th of July but are great for any time of the year. You can display them for Memorial Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, and even all summer long really. These are perfect to show your love for America. How To Recycle Old Windows

Do you have old windows laying around like I do and can’t decide what to do with them all! You will be glad you stopped by today because I am going to show you how to use furniture transfers to recycle old windows! Living on the farm has many perks as well as many challenges. When the new calves need to be feed that means we do not sleep as much. To me, that is a challenge. I love my sleep! The perk of living on a farm is seeing God’s beauty all around me every day as well as being married to the farmer. Another great perk is all the “old” things we have laying around for that “just in case we need it” a moment to happen! However, I am thankful for those items because I found the perfect thing from a pile in the barn that I can not wait to craft with you. I am going to teach you how to repurpose an old window. How to Recycle Old Windows for Art This is going to blow your mind. You can turn an old window into a beautifully hung portrait. The old wood on the glass window makes for the perfect frame for a beautiful furniture transfer. I just love the natural wood around the edges or you can even paint them the color of your choice. Unfortunately, the white barn transfer has very limited stock but you can find some great vintage portraits or even some nautical lighthouses to use! I found the transfer I truly LOVED. We live on a farm in a farmhouse with a barn so very fitting. The possibilities are endless when using furniture transfers to recycle old windows. You too can do this with the ones you have laying around your home or you find thrifting. Supplies Needed to Repurpose an Old Window: Old Window Frames Furniture Transfers Scissors Transfer Tool Steps: Clean the window very well with some window cleaner and a paper towel. Roll out your transfer and cut to appropriate size as well as omitting anything in the print you do not want to use. This one came in three separate pieces. Start from the bottom with the first piece. Line up the bottom and confirm that it fits the space you are trying to fill. Trim off off any edges on all sides that need a quick trim. Take the backing off the transfer slowly. Press down firmly and use a squeezy to remove any bubbles. Once pressed down and secure then pull off the top clear protective layer. Do this slowly and as you pull keep rubbing down the transfer as you pull the clear layer off. Repeat the same steps to apply the next two sections. Where to get old windows?
