Refreshing My Kitchen Walls & Décor

So I have been wanting to revampalize (yes, this is a word…just ask me?) my kitchen for quite some time now.

I was never totally in love with my color choice the last time I painted.

But I absolutely hate painting walls, so I left it.

Fast forward a few years and I am finally making time to get rid of it.

If you have been with me for any length of time, you know that I am all about neutralizing the colors in my house.  Browns, white, cream, tan, taupe, black.  That about sums it up.  So I left the two walls that were brown as they were.  And repainted the other two white.

I know, kinda boring, but I am loving it.  I have wanted to do this for so long now.  And slowly, it is happening.

So, it’s all going along well, SLOW, but inching forward.

This is another thing that I have not been in love with in our kitchen for a few years now.

Don’t get me wrong.  I do love the painting. And I admire the time and talent that it took to paint it.  It is gorgeous.  It just no longer goes with ma vibe.

We were on our way to go to my Dad’s wedding several years ago.  We were a little early (I used to have a terrible habit of that ?, so we decided to stop at one of our favorite junk stores.  I think it was called “The Treasure Chest” at that time.  It went through several changes, and I don’t think it is even open at all anymore.

Anyway, with a little time to kill, we stopped in.  And as we are strolling through the antiques and uniques, we see this barn painting.

Well, of course, there is no price on it, and I am too shy to ask for a price, but hubby isn’t.  We figured it would be pretty expensive.  But it never hurts to ask.

But it wasn’t.  It was actually pretty cheap.  20 bucks!  We couldn’t believe it, so we snagged it. Annnnnd it fit perfectly where we needed it.  We have this little storage spot, and we just needed a door or something to hang over it to disguise it.  BAM!!!  We found it!

So we got it home and hung and it fit perfectly!  Like it was absolutely meant to be there!

So fast forward to 11ish years or so.  Still love the sign, it just doesn’t go with the direction I am taking my home décor.  But it is the perfect size, so…I decided to turn it over and make another sign on the backside.

I didn’t know exactly what I wanted.  Of course I did it on a Facebook live, lol.

I ended up painting the board dried sage from Dixie Belle.  I was a little worried that it would be to pale against white walls, but it is just fine.

I proceeded to go through some of my farm themed stencils and started trying to figure out how to lay them out.  I used different stencils, different words from different stencils, and a cow and a windmill.

I think it turned out OK!  And hubby likes it, too!  What do you think?

I still have a few more things that I want to refresh before I show you the whole kitchen.  But don’t get too excited!  It’s nothing fancy, but neither are we.

Talk soon!!!
